About the study

Understanding respiratory effort at the bedside.

We are conducting this research with a respiratory medical device company to understand how clinicians recognize and respond to increased work of breathing across patients, settings, and levels of acuity. The interview focuses on your clinical experience and judgment.

Assessing & interpreting

The signs, indicators, and tools you rely on to judge respiratory status and increased effort.

Communicating & escalating

How you raise concerns and make decisions about oxygen, HFNC, BiPAP, rapid response, and transfer.

Weaning & risk

Your experience with weaning support and the risks of lung and diaphragm injury from excessive effort.

Where monitoring falls short

Gaps in current monitoring, and where important changes can be hard to detect early.

Who we're looking for

Clinicians who manage respiratory distress.

You care for patients in respiratory distress regularly and have at least two years in your role.

Respiratory Therapists

RTs who routinely assess work of breathing and manage respiratory support.

$125 honorarium

ICU & ED Nurses

Critical care and emergency nurses involved in respiratory care decisions.

$150 honorarium

Intensivists & Physicians

Critical care physicians who direct escalation, ventilation, and weaning.

$400 honorarium

How and when do I get the honorarium?

Honoraria are $125 for respiratory therapists, $150 for nurses, and $400 for intensivists and physicians. Payment is sent after your interview, typically within a week, as a digital gift card.
